Workshops
Join Ayala for a series of fun and interactive, hands-on workshops integrating theory and practice of olfactory and culinary arts. Learn how to create perfumed products and beautifully flavoured foods with essential oils, floral waters, fresh spices and herbs. These workshops have no pre-requisites, except that you must sign up and pay in advance to reserve your spot, as spaces are extremely limited. Most classes and workshops are held at Ayala Moriel Parfums studio, and have spaces for 6 students. Group booking is most recommended if you want to ensure the workshop you're interested in will run at the date of your choice. Gather a group of up to 5 more friends, and sign up for an experience of a lifetime creating your own scented products!
Many of the workshops are suitable for special events such as bridal showers/stagettes, birthday parties, retirement parties, and other lifetime landmarks.

Visit product page →This Virtual Scent-Trip is an Incense & Tea Ceremony that is inspired by Jules Verne's novel and the ongoing travel restrictions: an evening around the world through scent and aroma. We'll follow Phileas Fogg's route with his French butler Passepartout - enjoying French lavender, sipping English tea, exploring Calabrian Etrog, and exotic incense and perfumes such as Egyptian Kyphi, Ethiopean myrrh, Indian Attars and Nag Champa incense, Sandalwood incense from the Buddhist shrines of Hong Kong, rare aromas from the Japanese ceremonial bath and incense games, and we'll complete our round trip with North America's botanical treasures - Western Redcedar, White Sage, Tobacco and Sweetgrass, before returning to London for more tea and hot scones with jam.
Can be scheduled in person at a date and time that is convenient for you and up to 8 other discerning souls; or online via Zoom for up to 20 people, with an accompanying kit of all the incenses, teas and perfumes to experience that you will receive in the mail in advance when joining remotely, and a winning recipe for scones (the kit is included in the pricing).
P.s. This unique scent-trip is in loving memory of Ruth Moriel, who has circumvented the world more than once in her first 88 years of life. She lived on for another nine years traveling to shorter distances, not any less enjoyable and adventurous. She has survived WWII, escaped the Holocaust and countless wars and battles in her life, until she crossed over to the other realm peacefully in her sleep during the first COVID-19 lock-down in April 2020. Ruth will be forever remembered, loved and missed by her daughters, grandchildren and great-grand-children, and many other family members and friends for whom she has always been a source of inspiration and support.

We will pulverize, grind and mix together raw materials that were used in incense makig since time immemorial. After experiencing first hand the sensual aromatic process of incense making you may never look at incense the same way again...We offer three types of incense workshops. Choose the kind you'd like - or sign up for an in-depth series or full day workshop, incorporating all these ancient techniques (Each is priced individually).
1. Smudge WandsIntroduction to incense history and raw materials. Forage botanicals for making incense wands/smudge stick from wild and local medicinal herbs.
2. Loose Incense
Spotlight on resins and composition of a loose incense using resins, herbs and spices.
3. KyphiRelying on an ancient Egyptian recipe, we'll pulverize and grind various resins, herbs, precious woods and spices in a mixture of wine and raisins, and create small pellets that can be burned on a charcoal or electric incense heater or diffuser. You'll be able to pick up the Kyphi you made after a week (or get it mailed to you).
4. Incense Pastilles

5. Neirkoh
Japanese incense pastilles - like soft incense caramels that are designed for warming on a hot plate rather than burning. Made from complex aromatics and aged for several months.
6. Incense Trails & Body Incense
Unique Japanese technique for incense burning, as well as perfuming the body or cleansing before entering temples for prayer and meditation. This class also serves as preparation for the most complex form of combustible incense.7. Incense ConesMore technically advanced, this incense is hand-shaped into little cones that can stand on their base and are self burning - just like the more familiar joss-sticks, once they are ignited, they burn slowly from the tip to the bottom. Preparing them requires fine balancing of the ingredients and meticulous shaping, therefore taking much longer. You'll be able to pick up the cones you made after a week (or get them mailed to you).

Botanical Alchemy Course

Bi-weekly sessions, which take place year-around in which we will listen to, observe and discover the plants in their natural habitat at Ayala Moriel's "Cave" and fragrant garden in Clil, and mostly outdoors in the wilderness of the Galilee.The course focuses on exploring the life cycle of plants, and the mysterious and magical teachings that we can draw from their ways of life, survival mechanisms and unique qualities: Chemistry, colour, aroma, flavour and texture and the plant's way of life all teach us about the plants properties and how they can assist us in healing our body, mind, spirit and the planet.
We will develop close relationships with the local plants, as well as discover some exotic ones from far away lands that are essential for understanding the human-botanical connection and its history in medicine, cosmetics, incense and perfume.
We will learn about the history of plants from ethnobotanical point of view, their versatile applications from time immemorial - as food source, medicine, spice, construction, weaving, incense, perfume, magic, art and so much more.
The course is suitable for medicine people and healers, artists and artisans, and anyone who hears a calling from the plant world - be it from professional or personal reasons. For me personally this course is making a dream come true - to get close and intimate with the Plant People and give back to Mother Earth. This connection on and of itself is healing to all people and the planet!
The course will commence December 12th, 2019, and will take place on a bi-weekly basis, to a total of 24 sessions throughout the year.
Tuition fee: $1,666 USD, or up to 12 payments of $150 each (total of $1,800).
