Lime & Cacao

Lime+Cacao by Ayala Moriel
Lime+Cacao, a photo by Ayala Moriel on Flickr.

Contrasting colours of lime green against deep brown are the centre of this playful fresh gourmand, perfect for summer! Inspired by the Mexican way of treating chocolate, Lime & Cacao is more more piquant than sweet and balances the sweetness of South American balsams with zesty lime and mineral and melancholic Blue. The lemon-drop sweetness of litsea cubeba and crushed geranium leaves give Lime & Cacao a vibrant heart.

Top notes:
Mexican Lime, Fresh Ginger

Heart notes:
Rose Geranium, Litsea Cubeba, Nutmeg Absolute

Base notes:
Cacao, Tolu Balsam, Blue Cypress

This one-of-a-kind perfume can now be adopted as your own custom scent via Etsy.

Tuberose Lei

tuberose and orchid lei, originally uploaded by NoeLani2006.

Tuberose Lei is the newest addition to the One-Of-A-Kind section on my Etsy shop.

Tuberose Lei is a humid, heady tuberose wrapped around the neck like a snaky flower lei. Four types of tuberose essences were picked for this living piece of jewelry, including two different tuberose absolutes, Indian tuberose attar and a unique distillation of organic tuberose are laced with other precious attars, creating an intoxicating tuberose infatuation.

Top notes: Kewda Attar, Ho Wood, Bergamot

Heart notes: Tuberose Absolute, Tuberose Attar, Organic Tuberose Essence, Attar Mottia, Orange Blossom

Base notes: Sandalwood Vanuatu, Peru Balsam, Labdanum, Liatrix, Vanilla

The One-Of-A-Kinds are distinct signature perfumes that will never make it to the Ayala Moriel ready-to-wear collection. The formula will be kept in file exclusively for the one customer who chooses to adopt this unique perfume as their own Signature Perfume.

Lavender-Basil, Sahleb and Other Stock Updates

Lovender-Basil One-of-a-Kind perfume is taken!
It was adopted by a Susan, a British Colmubian island-dweller and is now officially her signature perfume.
To view other one-of-a-kind perfumes available for adoption as your own signature perfume, vist my Etsy shop.

A few more news about what's in and what's out of stock:

The last bottle of Sahleb was sold today. A new batch, however, with a new crop of orris butter 15% irone was prepared recently and will be available in a few weeks' time once it is matured. Although the orris is not the same as the original batch, Sahleb maintains its buttery, milky smoothness, which is what it's all about.

On another note, it's time to bid farewell to Magnolia Petal. From now on it will be only produced on-demand and will no longer be available in sample sizes.

Tirzah and Gaucho teas are out of stock and will not be produced again in the foreseeable future. We do, however, have a new beautiful floral-green-tea coming up this spring to accompany Charisma - which is going to be very exciting. I will be posting more about it in the near future.

Purple (p)Rose

Purple rose of Cairo, originally uploaded by ay_caramba_nz.

This perfume was created after exploring Indian roses and exotic attars while watching The Purple Rose of Cairo. The name was selected as a tongue-in-your cheek gesture to fluffy perfume ad-copies and fragrance literature laden with purple patches. Consider this to be the part of the film where the screenwriter converses with its characters while they step out of the silver screen attempting to get a life.

Purple (p)Rose is rosy and exotic. Many essences extracted from plants grown on Indian soil seem to have a certain sweetness, depth and spicy richness. I sometimes wonder if there is curry in the Indian soil that affects the aroma of these plants and make them stand apart from those grown in other countries. The essences I chose are mostly ones that I associate with the colours purple and blue. There is no particular logic behind that notion, it's completely intuitive. There is no way for me to explain why I think champaca smells purple or Buddha wood smells blue. I can only hope you will understand me if you smell them.

The opening notes are rosy with hints of spice and fruit, evolving into a plush floral heart with traditional Indian rose attars of rose and oud, ruh gulab (a traditional Indian distillation of rose), red champaca, blue lotus and blue waterlily to compliment the purple theme. And finally, deep woody notes of sandal, oud and Buddha wood, precious and sublime encompass all and invite meditation.

Top notes: Chinese Five Spice, Magnolia Lily, Cassis

Heart notes: Indian Summer Rose Attar, Ruh Gulab, Red Champaca, Blue Lotus, Blue Water Lily

Base notes: Agarwood, Amber Oudh Attar, Bakul Attar, Buddha wood, Sandalwood

Now available via Etsy under the One-of-a-Kind Perfumes section.

Adoption Corner

On my Etsy shop, you can now find a new section titled One of a Kind featuring unreleased perfumes. These one-of-a-kind creations are not planned to be included in my collection, and are fascinating experiments in the art of perfumery. In reality, they are a custom scent that you can adopt off-the-shelf.

They are all presented in my signature frosted tear drop shape flacon, unless stated otherwise.

I am really excited about this opportunity to share with the world some of my latest creations, some of which are really innovative. And at the same time, I can keep my existing collection as uncluttered as possible while letting my creativity loose... This way everybody wins!

Currently up for adoption are Sacred Oud and Frangipanni Gloves (I've blogged about it here before).
