This Día de los Muertos Kyphi Ofrenda is a contemporary interpretation of Ancient Egyptian Kyphi recipes, using Central American ingredients to honour the dead. This kyphi is created to be placed on the Ofrenda (the home altar for the deceased, with offerings to honour the dead), as well as burnt in funerals and memorial ceremonies. Copal resin and Palo Santo are mixed with Yerba Santa, Lemon Verbena, cinnamon and vanilla, creating a soothing aromatic concoction that will feed even the hungriest lost souls.
Each raw material was ground separately, then they are all compounded together in a mixture of organic honey and raisins soaked in tequila. This not only binds together the ingredients but also creates an alchemical process that truly transforms the aroma of the incense and creates a heavenly smoke when burnt on a charcoal.
It can also be used by placing on an aromatherapy diffuser (place on a piece of aluminum foil to prevent it from sticking to your diffuser). If using a glazed ceramic or heat proof glass vessel for the incense, cleaning it with warm water and vinegar from time to time would suffice.

Palo Santo incense cones are a potent plant medicine, originating from Central and South America, where it has been used for time immemorial in smudging ceremonies and healing rituals. It is grounding, balancing, promotes mental health as it is both uplifting, energizing and protective. Palo Santo develops the essential oils and resin that give it its unique perfume only after the tree dies down, teaching us that even after death, separation and endings there is hope for beauty and strength.
Palo Santo incense cones are hand-rolled in the traditional method, made only from finely ground botanicals: Palo santo wood, marigold petals and yerba santa leaves, bound with natural gums or wood bark. No saltpetre or charcoal used in these cones. Cones are generally faster burning than a thick joss stick (range of burning time may be from 7-15min, and produce more smoke. They are more convenient to burn while traveling and outdoors, and they stand on their own base, and therefore don't really require special equipment or vessels.
Burning instruction: Prepare a heat-proof vessel, on a sturdy surface away from flammables and out of reach of children and animals. To prevent scorch marks, it is recommended that you layer some sand, earth or ash on the vessel. Place the cone and light the tip of it, and allow the flame to extinguish. Because these are handmade cones, each has a different burning times.
Each box contains a dozen cones.
