Studio Summer Hours

During the summer holidays (July through September 5th), our opening hours would be a little different:
Monday: 9:30am - 2:00pm
Tuesday through Friday: 9:30pm-3:45pm
Weekends and evening are by appointment only, as always.

Feel free to drop by anytime for your share of good scents, exotic ice tea and scented chocolate truffles!
Ayala Moriel Parfums Studio is located at the heart of downtown Vancouver, at 1230 Haro street, facing the fashionable Robson Strasse.

If you want to share the scentsational experience of natural perfume with your friends, book yourself for a feast of the senses - a celebration of aromatica and natural perfumery.

First Chocolate Truffle Workshop Report

My first chocolate truffle workshop was extremely successful! We had a full house, and we made two types of truffles:
Blood Truffles - dark chocolate with Turkish rose otto, saffron and chilli pepper (ouch!)
Charisma Truffles - inspired by my perfume by the same name, with matcha green tea powder, jasmine sambac, litsea cubeba and spearmint. These were covered with a mixture of matcha and powdered coconut.
We made two batches of each - one for the students to take home, and one to serve on my upcoming Perfume Party - launching Tirzah. I think the matcha truffles will be a perfect complement to the linden blossom fragrance. We'll also have a linden blossom tea made by a local tea artisan.
If you live in Vancouver, you should not miss the party (Saturday, June 16, 7-11pm) or the upcoming workshops here every Thursday at 6:30pm.
Next Thursday, June 14: Interactive presentation about how to think (and sniff!) like a nose and an introduction to natural perfumery.

I am really looking forward to meet more of you, and hope you could come and join me at one point or the other... Spaces are limited so book yourself well in advance: we have room for up to 20 people for the presentation on June 14th, and all of the "hands-on" workshops are for 6 people max. It's really important to keep the forum small so each student can get the guidance and close attention they need during the learning process.

P.s. I will post photos of the fabulous truffles tomorrow when there is daylight...

First Perfume Party / Open House

The pictures from the open house turned out extremely blurry, so I am putting up a little collage of thumbnails for those of you who weren't able to make it ;)
It was plenty of fragrant and social fun, in an intimate setting. We enjoyed together perfume, Okanagan wines and orange blossom truffles. For our "under-age" guests we served a gourmet virgin-cocktail of white cranberry-grape juice flavoured with orange flower water, and vanilla-rooibos tea.

We did a few collecting sniffing rounds - first of rose perfumes (Rosebud, Cabaret, Fete d'Hiver...), and than a round of masculine fragrances, which the ladies found they love tremendously! Lastly, all the guests got to try the latest creations for the soliflore collection - my new ylang ylang soliflore, Coralle, and Tirzah - a linden blossom soliflore which will come out in June. But also - those who attended got a sniff of preview of perfumes that won't be coming out until the fall! I can't tell you too much about them, except that they are going to be utterly delicious.

Each guest got a fragrance consultation and a personalized sample set, and got to try on different scents as well as pieces from the collectible perfumed jewelry (gem-stoned poison rings and solid perfume lockets).

This open house is the first of many monthly events such as this. The next one will be on Saturday, June 16th to celebrate the launch of Tirzah, and will also have lots of other surprises (TBA). If you are in Vancouver you shouldn't miss it!

Picture above (from left to right, top to bottom): Vinni, Sandra and Ayala sniffing along (some of us even compared sniffing armpits instead of coffee... it looks funny but it works LOL); Colleen (who helped me to pull this together not just by myself - thank you!), and Christen with the roses.

News from the Nose: Coralle, Mother's Day and an Open House

Dear Friends,

After much procrastination, spring has finally arrived to Vancouver! It took quite some time, so instead of waiting around for spring to come, I packed my suitcase and went to Tel Aviv for a month to celebrate Passover with my family and soak up on some sunrays. Visiting my homeland at this time of year is always inspirational. I enjoy everything my family's company, the food and the myriads of colourful, fragrant flowers. It is essential for me to "get back to my roots" and stay in touch with who I am in order to continue to create. I feel very fortunate to be able to do so, and I truly appreciate your patience while I was away.

Now I am back, and have some exciting news to share with you!

* MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL: One perfume for Mom, one for you for half the price!
* NEW PERFUME: Coralle Scent from a Tropical Coral Reef
* SPECIAL EVENT: Ayala Moriel's Open House

MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL

Mother's Day is coming in two weeks, and since many of you are mothers yourselves, I would like to give you a little treat "on the house":
throughout the month of May, buy a second perfume for yourself for half of the retail price! This way, you can treat yourself and your mother for a very special all-natural perfume. Simply email me with the title "MAMA"
after placing your order, and I will refund your order accordingly.

NEW PERFUME: CORALLE

Coralle is centered around Ylang Ylang, the tropical creamy-yellow coloured tree flowers with a heady aroma that is like no other heady-floral, sweet fruity and creamy-smooth. Only the softest, sweetest and creamiest ylang ylang essences were chosen for Coralle, including ylang ylang concrete and ylang ylang absolute from Comores Island. These were paired it with the sparkling aldehydic juiciness of clementine and grapefruit. The heart includes the fruity, full-bodied wine-like aromas of Geranium bourbon and Davana. Sweet vanilla adds a tropical charm and is tampered by a hint of vetiver, creating the olfactory illusion of sun-bleached driftwood.

Coralle takes me to a soft sandy beach and a skin-caressing sun. I lean on a trunk of driftwood and let all the worries of the world dissolve in the salty ocean breeze and sink into the sand. I dive into the turquoise water to explore myriads of coral colours. I sundry my skin and wear nothing but bright lays of tropical flowers orange, pink, red and pure white. They scent the air around me, connecting me to the things that make me the happiest beauty, nature and scent.

Top Notes: Ylang Ylang Oil, Grapefruit, Clementine

Heart Notes: Ylang Ylang Cream, Geranium Bourbon, Davana

Base Notes: Amber, Vanilla, Bourbon, Vetiver

Available in Parfum Extrait and Crème Parfum.
